πŸ’¬ Communication, Roleplay & Immersion

Insert monologue here.

Mystavaria is a living, breathing world shaped as much by your words and presence as by your actions. This guide will help you express yourself, connect with others, and immerse fully into your character.

πŸ’‘ Tip: Thoughtful roleplay and authentic speech enhance your journey and influence how others respond.

πŸ“’ Let Your Voice Be Heard

To speak aloud:

  • SAY <message> β€” Speak to those in the same room
  • " <message> β€” Shortcut for SAY
  • SAYTO <player> <message> β€” Address a specific player

You can also adjust your voice depending on who you're trying to reach:

  • SHOUT <message> β€” Broadcast your words to a wider area
  • WHISPER <player> <message> – Speak privately to someone nearby

When talking to NPCs, it is important to note that they do not generally respond to SAY or TELL. Instead, you may want to use the GREET and ASK commands:

  • GREET <npc> β€” NPCs may respond with tips, musings, quest hints, or begin an actual quest
  • ASK <npc> <keyword> – Ask an NPC about something specific

πŸ‘₯ Private Communication

Private tells are a great way to speak directly with other players, no matter where they are in the world.

  • TELL <player> <message> – Send a private message directly to the specified player
  • REPLY <message> β€” Quickly respond to the last person who sent you a tell

Unlike SAY, which is heard by everyone in your current location, TELLs are a private, direct line — useful for checking in with a friend, planning a meet-up, or asking for help without broadcasting it to the world.

πŸ’‘ Tip: Use private messages responsibly. Respect immersion and remain in-character if you don't know the other player well. Protect real-life boundaries. Don't ask for or share real-world personal information unless you know each other well and it is mutually welcome. If someone asks you not to message them, respect that. Repeated, unwanted contact can be reported and considered harrassment.

πŸ’ Emoting

Emotes can be used to express actions, moods, or convey subtle behaviors of your character.

Mystavaria includes a rich set of pre-defined emotes such as SMILE, LAUGH, NOD, and CRY. These help you interact quickly and naturally with others.

See EMOTE LIST for all available emotes.

You can also send custom emotes using:

  • EMOTE <text> β€” Describe an action beginning with your character's name
  • EMOTE'S <text> or EMS <text> β€” Use the possessive form of your character's name

Examples:
EMOTE tilts her head and looks at you curiously.
EMS eyes glint with quiet amusement.

It is also possible to target players or objects in custom emotes using @name. This will replace their name with "you" for the target player.

Example:
EMOTE smiles warmly at @delax.

Delax sees: Alora smiles warmly at you.
Others see: Alora smiles warmly at Delax.

πŸ’‘ Tip: Good emotes show, not tell. Rather than "is sad", try "lowers her head, shoulders slumping as the weight of silence settles in".

🎭 In Character (IC) vs. Out of Character (OOC)

Mystavaria is RP Encouraged. We understand that players have different preferences, and our RP Preferences system strives to help everyone find comfortable ways to interact without breaking immersion.

In general, the SAY command and any form of public speech should be kept in character. You can use OSAY for out-of-character messages visible to everyone in the room, though players who have chosen to IGNORE OOC may not see out-of-character messages. Please respect their boundaries.

TELLS can be either IC or OOC. Again, please be mindful and respect the RP Preferences of others when using them.

πŸ’‘ Tip: If you are not sure of another player's RP Preferences, you can use the RP STATUS <player> command.

🚨 Status & RP Alerts

These optional tools help players coordinate RP or signal delays without breaking immersion. They're especially useful for strict or long-form RP scenes, but anyone can use them as needed:

  • TYPING β€” Signals to the room that you are preparing a longer message
  • READING β€” Indicates you are reading something and response may be delayed
  • AFK β€” Mark yourself as Away From Keyboard
  • BUSY β€” Flag yourself as temporarily distracted or preoccupied
  • G2G or G2G <# minutes> β€” Notify others that you need to go now or soon

Important: Using AFK or BUSY does not protect you from in-game harm.

If you die while AFK or BUSY, you will not be reimbursed for any experience, coins, or items lost. Mystavaria does not condone nor encourage idle or AFK play, though it is not punished.
