Help: Challenge

Formal challenges serve as a public and honourable method of initiating
battle with another Mystavarian. When you issue a challenge, your intent
is broadcast to all in the land, ensuring the challenger cannot reasonably
ignore your call to battle. If the challenger issues a challenge back to
you, it will be announced to the realm that the two players are engaged in
mutual combat.

Mutual challenges hold a revered status, and their significance is acknowledged
and upheld by the Gods. These challenges are to be respected by all, and any
who dare to intentionally disrupt or interfere with a formal challenge may be
faced with divine retribution.

To engage in a formal challenge, the following commands are available:
CHALLENGE <player> Issue a formal challenge to your opponent.
CHALLENGES Review all currently active challenges.
RETRACT Retract a formally issued challenge.

In a mutual challenge, the opponents will both maintain an "aggressive"
status. This prevents the challengers from seeking refuge in the safety of
most settlements. A victor is declared when one of the challengers slays
their opponent.

In general, formal challenges are favoured over unwarranted attacks launched
upon another without just cause. As such, the opponent who loses a challenge
does not suffer from any loss to their hard-earned experience. Instead, it is
merely a minor setback to their combat ratio and perhaps a small blow to their
pride. Conversely, the victor is awarded with a bonus of 1.5 times the experience
gain from slaying their opponent, a bonus which is not attainable outside of
formally declared challenges.

You may only issue and engage in one formal challenge at a time. If you wish
to issue a challenge to another, you would need to first retract any open or
non-mutually issued challenge.
