Help: Clans

Clans are player created and player run organisations which strive to unite
like-minded adventures or those who share similar goals and aspirations. They
function much like guild and settlement organisations, but have less heirarchy
and are more limited in how much they can expand.

Joining a Clan
Clans can be either public or private, a choice which is decided by the Clan
Leader. Public clans are listed in the CLAN HELP directory and can be
joined by anyone. Private clans tend to be much more secretive and elusive.
They are not listed in the public directory and are by personal invite only.

To join a public clan you may use CLAN JOIN <clan name>. If you know
the name of a private clan, you may submit an application to join using
CLAN APPLY <clan name>, however, another high ranking member of the
clan will have to review and approve your application before you are
accepted as a new member.

Clan members of appropriate rank can review any open applications by
typing CLAN APPLICATIONS. They can then be approved or denied with the
syntax CLAN APPLICATION APPROVE/DENY <applicant>.

Clan Intentions
There are couple types of clans, which are categorised by their set "intentions".
The intention defines what the long term goal of the clan is, as clans are
the starting point for those who yearn to establish their own guild or found
a new settlement.

The three types of intentions are as follows:
GUILD The clan intends to grow into a new guild.
CITY The clan intends to grow into a new city or settlement.
CLAN The clan intends to remain a clan for all of time.

Clan intentions are determined at the time a new clan is founded and cannot
be changed without divine intervention.

Founding a New Clan
The first step in founding a new clan is to head to a post office and request
a blank deed using the syntax REQUEST DEED.

Once you have a deed in hand, you will need to go through the titling process.
Titling a deed takes some time and requires multiple steps. Before you begin,
take a moment to consider what you would like to name the new clan and what the
intentions of the clan will be. It is also advised to ensure you are in a safe
location when you begin the process of titling. When ready, use the command
TITLE DEED. You may REVIEW DEED and change the information on the deed
as many times as necessary until it has been signed. Once a signature is on it,
the information on the title is set in stone.

As Clans should not be created frivolously, at least two players must sign the
clan deed. A signature is a binding oath of players to join the new clan at its
creation. Once the appropriate number of signatures are on the deed, it will
need to be taken back to the post office and registered using REGISTER DEED.

At the time of registry, the clan will be formally founded and recorded in the
registry of clans. The individual who titled the deed will established as the
Clan Leader. All those who signed the deed will join at the rank of "Veteran",
the highest rank attainable outside of the Clan Leader position. Additionally,
all who signed the deed will be permanently noted with the permanent honour of
"Clan Founder".
