Help: Emotes
EMOTES are a way to express yourself, your actions, and your feelings,
and are often used to enhance your roleplaying experience by interacting
with other players and the world around you in a more immersive way.
Pre-Defined Emotes
For convenience, we have a number of generic, pre-defined emotes available.
These include common actions and interactions such as SMILE, LAUGH,
POUT, and CRY. When you use one of these emotes, other players in
your location will see something such as:
Alora bursts into a cheerful laugh.
Read HELP GREET for a full list of default emotes and more details about
using them.
Custom Emotes
In addition to pre-defined emotes, players can also send custom emotes
to act in a more specific way befitting of your character. To use a
custom emote, type EMOTE <text>. You can also use the possessive form
of your name by using EMOTE 's <text>. Example:
You type: emote tilts her head and looks at you curiously
Others See: Alora tilts her head and looks at you curiously.
You type: emote 's eyes light up with excitement
Others see: Alora's eyes light up with excitement.
You type: ems eyes light up with excitement
Others see: Alora's eyes light up with excitement.
Targetting Emotes
Both players and items in your location can be referenced in custom emotes.
Simply use @target (ex. @alora or @chair) to target another player or item.
The targeted player will see "you" instead of their name. Examples:
You type: emote tilts her head and looks at @delax curiously
Others See: Alora tilts her head and looks at Delax curiously.
Delax Sees: Alora tilts her head and looks at you curiously.
You type: emote tilts her head and looks at @painting curiously
Others See: Alora tilts her head and looks at a landscape painting curiously.
Future Plans
We have a few additional features planned for further customisation of
emotes, however they just didn't quite make the cut for phase one priority.
These plans include the ability to use pronouns for targeted emotes and
the ability to prepend words to an emote so that they do not always have
to start with your name. Please feel free to SUGGEST any further
thoughts or ideas you have to improve our emote system!
