Help: Ranks

Being a member of any organisation, be it a settlement, guild, or clan, often
comes with benefits, be it in the form of resources and wealth, or friendships
and loyal allies.

Within each of the organisations, there are numerous ranks which determine
which privileges you have access to within the organisation. Rank is usually
gained by time, or direct promotions from those in leadership roles.

Settlement Ranks
Settlements have the widest variety of ranks to be obtained. Everyone starts
at the rank of "Commoner" upon obtaining new citizenship and grows in status
over time and by pro-active contributions to their settlement.

In addition to the normal ranks, there are noble ranks, which are reserved
for those who wield the crown powers of a settlement. A new settlement ruler
begins at the rank of "Prince/Princess", and they appoint a left and right
hand known as "Consuls" to lead with them. The only way to progress through
the noble ranks is by time spent in the position. As the ruler gains higher
eschelons of nobility, so too does their appointed "Consul", as recognition
of a strong government and leadership.

Settlement ranks are as follows: The noble ranks are as follows:
#1 Commoner #1 Consul / Regnant
#2 Gentleman / Maiden #2 Prince / Princess
#3 Lord / Lady #3 King / Queen
#4 Baron / Baroness #4 High King / High Queen
#5 Viscount / Viscountess #5 Emperor / Empress
#6 Count / Countess
#7 Marquis / Marchioness
#8 Duke / Duchess
#9 Archduke / Archduchess

The final ranks worth noting within the settlements are simply referred to
as special ranks. These include the elected position of the "Magistrate", the
appointed "Magister", the divinely appointed "Cardinal", and those who have
been bestowed with the honour of "Knight" or "Dame".

Guild Ranks
Guilds have a slightly less complex structure, however there are still many
ranks to progress through. Higher guild ranks are often representative of a
dedicated, long standing member, or those who have mastered the skills and/or
ideals of which the guild stands for.

Guild ranks are as follows:
#1 Apprentice
#2 Neophyte
#3 Journeyman / Journeywoman
#4 Guildsman / Guildswoman
#5 Officer
#6 Master / Mistress
#7 Grand-Master / Grand-Mistress
#8 Doyen / Doyenne
#9 Overseer

New members of a guild always start at the rank of "Apprentice", however,
there is technically a "Probationary" rank (typically reserved for punishment)
which falls below this. Additionally, the guild leader gains the rank of
"Guildmaster/Guildmistress", and they may recognise members with the honour
of the "Elder" status. The original founders of a guild will always be noted
as "Founder", and a guild "Tutor" may also be appointed.

Clan Ranks
Clans are the least formal of the organisations in Mystavaria, and have a
much simpler structure with only three ranks outside of the appointed
"Clan Leader" and the original "Clan Founders".

Clan ranks are as follows:
#1 Initiate
#2 Clansman / Clanswoman
#3 Veteran
